Business Challenge:
TECO Energy is a leading energy company located in Tampa, traded on the New York Stock Exchange and part of the S&P 500 Index. The company maintains a strong portfolio of regulated utility operations and profitable diversified businesses, and their core competency is in electric generation. The company maintains an ongoing focus on developing the knowledge, abilities and skills of its incumbent workforce as a means of developing a more effective and productive organization. TECO desired to improve workforce training by introducing a digital e-learning course authoring system. The solution needed to be adaptable, scalable, and easy to use for course developers and end user employers.

The Solution:
TECO selected Intelladon and its award-winning course authoring tool, the Advanced Learning Platform (ALP(tm)) to provide digital employee training throughout the organization. In 2002, the company developed and deployed two custom courses for the ALP-(1) an online interviewee class, and (2) an emergency management course (both are still in use). TECO is currently in the process of developing additional courses including a craft skills training program and traditional human resources training modules. The company's training department used Intelladon's technology to capture and convert their text-based training to an online environment and offer employees a truly blended learning solution.

Return on Investment:
Intelladon's interactive training solution delivers an automated and interactive learning experience to TECO employees through a combination of advanced digital, video and Web-based technologies. This advances TECO's mission of increasing the learning curve of its workforce while streamlining training logistics and saving money. Following the successful implementation of the ALP into the company's broader training program, TECO achieved direct cost-savings by not replacing one of its training facilitators and course instructors (saving the costs of an undisclosed full-time salary), while adding enhanced educational tools to its growing arsenal of continuing education offerings.
